(Produce –> Fill –> Pack –> Store)

Denka Advantech Pte. Ltd. (“DENKA”), a subsidiary of Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, is a manufacturer of fused silica filler used in semiconductor encapsulants. By enhancing their production system to adapt to more sophisticated semiconductor packaging and eco-friendly products, Denka’s Tuas Plant, together with Denki Kagaku Kogyo Omuta Plant, has become the world’s top class production base for spherical-shaped fused silica filler.

iWMS is deployed directly onto the production lines to control and account for each production run starting from Production Order registration, Pre-production validation, Weighing confirmation till Packing completion. To ensure that each production run is executed without any downtime, iWMS is tightly integrated with inline Weight-Check Systems as well as SAP throughout the entire production flow.

At the start of the filling process, serialized barcode labels are generated according to the required production grades and lot size. These barcodes are then applied onto each packing unit before being validate through scanning. This is to ensure that the correct production grades are packed in their pre-allocated filling chambers. An electronic weight check is then triggered from iWMS for each packing unit that is successfully filled. At the end of the each packing process, a signal generated by iWMS into SAP containing all track, trace and control attributes.

According to Kenny Tan, General Manager of KEYfields, “The challenge in this project is the tight integration amongst the Weight-Check, SAP and iWMS systems throughout the manufacturing processes. iWMS is designed for integration with backend ERP system, so integration is inherent within the software. iWMS makes integration easy and is the crux of this successful implementation”.
